Since 2001 I have guided several rivers in Wyoming, from freestone to tailwaters, but was in constant search for desolation and solitude. In 2001 I started working for The Solitary Angler on the Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge and quickly realized the Green below Fontenelle Reservoir not only has that desolation and solitude I was seeking but also has big fish. With only four outfitters permitted on the refuge I am one of the few guides who get to spend the season on this section of river. When the refuge season closes at the end of October, I chase Smallmouth and Spotted Bass in South Central Indiana.
I am a hard worker who rows over 2000 miles annually in my Skinny Skiff. I am passionate about my career and consider myself lucky to make a living doing what I love. Whether I’m introducing first timers to the sport, or setting seasoned vets up for success, I am dedicated to my guests and guide them as I would like to be guided. My motto is “patience plus persistence equals perseverance” and when you are in my boat we are a team.
The Stealth Skinny Skiff is the perfect boat for the waters I guide. It has plenty of space for my gear and my guest’s gear. Its stability helps counterbalance the heaviest of rocking casts. The low profile allows me to work efficiently in windy conditions. The bottom design helps me hold the boat in heavy current with minimal effort. It has enough rocker to let me navigate bigger waves and heavier water. It pushes and back-rows up-stream like an old Willys Jeep … it doesn’t take much power or gas to back up to runs.
